Buick Century Parts Online - Buick Century Extended Warranties

When the warranty on your Buick Century expires, you are going to want something to replace it. That something is called an extended warranty.

Extended warranties are available in three versions: bumper-to-bumper, stated component and drive train. All are designed to save you money and stress.

Bumper-to-bumper warranties are usually only available for vehicles that have some of the original warranty remaining. (Companies that provide extended warranties consider any vehicle with some of the original warranty remaining a "new" vehicle.) The last new Buick Century rolled off the assembly line in 2005, so you could be eligible for a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty. Check with your provider - do it online.

A stated component warranty covers specific or "stated" components, which means that whatever parts are listed in the policy, those and only those are covered. An extended warranty company will usually suggest this type of warranty for cars, vans, trucks, and SUVs with more than 100,000 miles on them. A stated-component warranty covers components like the engine, transmission, radiator, alternator, and water pump. It may also cover gaskets, seals, and electronic apparatus, like stereo and video equipment, a security or navigation systems. "Smart" versions of this type of warranty are also available. This means you, the vehicle owner, can specify the components you want covered, in contrast to a "fixed" list of components.

A drive train warranty only protects your Buick Century's drivetrain. This means your transmission, engine, drive shaft and drive axles. You can obtain "enhanced coverage" drivetrain warranties that will protect a few other components on your Century, like your video and/or stereo system.

When you research extended warranties, remember that price is just one of the items about which you need to inquire. You will also want to compare which parts are covered and for how long. Hint: Don't forget to ask about added benefits such as towing and rental car services.

Some drivers add extended-warranty coverage to their Buick Century used car loan payment. This is all right, but be aware that buying directly from a company that specializes in extended warranties, as opposed to companies that "partner" with vehicle finance companies, will probably give you a better deal.

Most extended warranties are transferable, this means for a small charge, you can transfer the policy to a new buyer should you sell your Buick Century. This is something the seller will want to make sure he or she mentions to any potential buyer.

An extended warranty will also protect you against inflation. How? The cost of labor and parts are very likely to increase, but when you purchase a Buick Century extended warranty, it provides coverage at the rate at which you signed up. In other words, you insurance company is locked into paying only so much for repairs, no matter how much parts and labor increase.

Tip: Wherever you travel (with a few exceptions), your extended warranty will cover your Buick Century. That's great for peace of mind.
